Commenting

For commenting have commented on Texas's blog. He has wrote about area and perimeter. He needs to fix his blog post because some of the blog post doesn't make sense.


Basic facts boxes

For basic facts boxes I done speed demon for multiplication and division.I got no answers wrong and my time was 7 minutes and 44 seconds.I nearly got 1 answer worn because I didn't read the question until I saw the question.




Reading ( WIP )

LI.To separate fact form opinion

For reading my group was reading a article about should fitness be more in schools and we should do more sports or it is bad in schools and why it should not be in schools. I chose it should be more in schools because we are working on our computers to much and lunch is short and we don't get enough time to exercise. Our social and communication skills are decreasing because we are not getting enough time to play sports. Sports can increase our communication and social skills and that's how we make new friends in sports.



Swimming

LI.To learn water safety
In Swimming Livvy's group we were doing stream line with a board. To do streamline you make your arms touch your ears but your arms are straight then you have to dive to the other platform. 

Then we were doing floating with the board and rotations. To do rotations you have to dive, when you have to breath you roll on to your back and get breath then you roll on to your front and get to the platform.

SSR Selfie

LI. To summarise and retell a text

For SSR Selfie I was reading a book about what would you rather have or what would you prefer. It gives you questions like would you rather chocolate or Vanilla? It gives you topics like food or many other things.

Print Advertisement

LI: to learn about persuasive tool in advertising.
We are learning about persuasive tool in advertising. Firstly we had to do the key vocabulary. We had to find out what language feature is, slogan, catch phrase and product. Then we had to solve some questions. The questions asked about what it was selling, who would be interested in the product, if there was any catch phrase for the company and what they were trying to say about the product. One of the slogans were once you pop you can't stop there were many other slogans that company's have like NZ's lowest prices and eat fresh.


Pulley

 



LI: to identify what a pulley is.
We had to get into groups and we had to pick if we wanted to finish our DLO or make a pulley first. Then half of the class did the DLO and the other half had to make the pulley. Once half of the group had finished we swap over. The way we had to make the pulley was with two long sticks and one rope. First somebody had to stay in the middle and the other two people had to hold the stack as tight as they can, but they can't pull. The person in the middle had to pull the two people in. Then we had to try it with the rope. With the rope we had to make a loop around the sticks and then one person had to pull the people holding the sticks.

Proportion Word Problems

LI: to solve proportion problems.
For a job for maths this week, me and three others chose to make a quiz about proportion word problems. The quiz for proportion word problems will be finished by next week Monday. I learned by working on the proportion word problems quiz.


Kiwi Can

LI. to focus more (not to get distracted).                                                                                     
 We learned how to not get distracted. Distracted is when you fall off focus. Many things can distract us like people talking or physically annoying each other. To learn about distractions we played a game called Distraction Circle. In the game one person stood in the middle and then the other four people do either singing to you, telling a story, Writing a number on your back and the person in the middle has to follow one persons actions.The hardest thing to remember was the person writing on my back because I can't see what number they were writing.

Cybersmart

LI: to apply the print design rules.
We are learning about the print design rules. This time had to fix the poster. There was 4 slides and we had to fix the poster by changing the text, the composition, the colour and the layout.

For commenting I have read Dayton's blog post about swimming and what he has done in that lesson.
He has done a good job writing his blog post all he needs to do is fix his learning intention.

For basic facts boxes I finished multiplication and division boxes up to 7.
My time was 3 minutes and 33 seconds I got no questions wrong.

For SSR selfie I read a book about wild life. Did you know that a big Easter egg is the same size a Kiwi egg.This book tells a facts about extinked animals and animals.


Incline Plane

LI.To learn about steam

For inquiry we were looking at what a incline plane is, a incline plane is similar to a wedge.
The incline plane is easier to lift up a person because on the incline plane you are pulling someone and not holding to much weight.

Proportions ( WIP )

LI: To identify a range of proportions


The proportion is the amount of two ratios or fractions are equivalent by. It could be a whole number or a fraction. This term we are managing money, finances, rent and more. We have commissions or jobs we have to do before a specific day, and we get payed based on how we do it. If we do the job well we get paid more, if we just make it basic we get less money. My commission was to do a quiz on Proportion Problems. 





Swimming

LI. To learn water safety
For swimming Livvy's group was learning how to save people by using a floating noodle. If you see someone calling for help and putting their hand up that means there in trouble. To save someone you have to lean on your tummy and make sure that they are holding on the floating then you pull them until they get back to a safe place. If you sit and pull the floating noodle when someone holding on to the rope you are going to fall in because they are coming towards you and you are in the position were you can flip into the water. Then we were doing sculling. To scull you need to make a 8 using your hands in the water.

Speech Competition 2019

LI.To learn persuasive speeches. 
For writing we a professional speech judge come from Tamaki college to see who had the best poem and speech skills for the finals.

My favrouite speech was Fau's because she was talking about mental health and w hat came happen if it doesn't stop. One thing I learnt was to talk about how they feel when they are feeling sad or depressed. 

My favourite poem was malasi's. His poem was about a kite and flying it night and day. He was confident, had good eye contact and pronounced the words properly. 

After the poems and speeches the judge Stevenson marked the top 3 poems and speeches for year 1 to 3 then 4 to 6 and last 7 and 8.  
Malas'i came 2nd for 1 to 3 in the poem finals and for the speech and Fau came 1st for the year 5 and 6 speech. 




   

Ihumatao

LI.To separate a fact to opinion
For reading we had to pick to pick a side for saving the land or voting for Fletcher's to build 480 houses on ihumatao. I picked saving the land because it is history and their are many other places to build a public place for houses.  One of my reasons were what is the point of building houses if people can't afford supplies for living.

SSR Selfie

For SSR selfie I read a book about Super cars. It gives you information about how fast they drive, their horsepower, how much money they are and when were they made and come from.
My favourite super car is a Corvette ZR1. It can go 330 kmph it is also a Muscle car.


Inquiry

LI: to learn about wheel and axles and lever
A wheel is a circle that rolls along the ground. An axle is a stick or rod that goes through the centre of the wheel. A lever is a bar that rests on a fulcrum to lift up a heavy load by applying pressure on one side. We had a poster for both simple machines and we had to answer the questions on the poster. We then had to make a wheel and axle. We then later in the week tried to use the lever to pick something up.






Persuasive speech

LI.To create a persuasive speech

For the past few weeks we were writing about a topic for our our pervasive speech. My topic was about why plastic bags should be banned not just from NZ but around the world. My score was 28/50 because I need to work on my eye contact. The things I was good at was pronouncing my speech properly and  present my ideas in a logical order.











Ihumatao

LI. To identify the main ideas in a text

For reading we had to read articles about Ihumatao and write down the main idea for the Maori protesters or fletchers building.Then write down your thought about that article and why you thought about that. I think that they should half the land because it is historic and Fletcher's were given permission to build 480 houses on that land by other people in Stone fields.

Swimming

LI. To learn water safety

In Livvy's group we were learning how to back kick. Back kick is when you float on your back but your doing small kicks. Then we were doing rotations with the board. Rotations with a board is swimming with a board when you need air you rotate on to your back. We were also doing streamline. Streamline is when you bend/stand up and you squeeze you arms next to your ears then you dive straight.

Ratio Problems ( WIP )

LI.To look after and make money by using maths 
For maths I am making a ratio problems game. Ratios are kind of like fractions and decimals together. Ratios are like if you have 8 burgers on 2 plates for a party what is the ratio to 1 and 6. 8:6, 8 & 6 or 6 it is 8:6 because you are adding them together but you are putting a semicolon between the 2 numbers.


Kiwi Can

LI.To control our actions 

We were learning about how to control our emotions and what to do if we get of control with emotions.Some steps are to take a deep breath or go somewhere where no one can interrupt you when your relaxing. Our activity was acting out plays. Our acting card was 2 friends fighting in the weekends fighting about who is going to drop kick the ball for the last final.



Print design rules

LI.To identify the four areas of print design

For cybersmart we are learning about print design rules. The print design rules are Colour, Layout, Composition and Text. We were using a google slide to order an learn and put the good and bad print design rules. One design rule is colour if you put dark pink with light blue it makes your work uguly looking.

Lion King Play

We have been acting play since last term so we got an opportunity to watch a lion king play. We went to Orison Junior college to watch a lion king play
The lion king play was really interesting, The music and the characters had really interesting acts and voices. My favrouite part of the play was the fight between Scar and Simba .

Least Common Multiple WIP

LI.To create money by maths 
A least common multiple is when two numbers share the smallest number. Me and three others are working on a tutorial about least common multiples, on the tutorial we are explaining what least common multiples are and how to find the least common multiple. The tutorial is a work in progress. I learned by working on the tutorial.


Ihumatao

LI: to identify the main ideas in the text
We continued working on the slide and we started doing the timeline of the Ihumatao protest. It started all the way back in the 1860s and still continues to this day. The Ihumatao protest is about a company Fletcher's wanting to build 500 houses on the land. But the local Iwi and Maori refuse because there ancestors used to live there.




Swimming

LI.To learn how to swim

For swimming we were learning how to float on our front in front with a noodle.
We also were floating on our back with a noodle but our tummy was slightly above the water. our feet had to touch the blue line our challenge  was float on our back for 3 minutes.

Then we were doing pencil diving.For pencil diving how put a foot out and your arms are together then you jump straight.

After we were doing sculling, to scull you use your hands and make a number 8.

Rube Goldberg

LI: to learn about STEAM
For the rest of the term we are doing STEAM for inquiry. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. We first looked at who Rube Goldberg was, we had to find out the 5 W's and H about him. Rube Goldberg invented the Rube Goldberg machine, which does simple task in a over-complicated manner.

Then we made a machine using our own body by using up,down and around actions to open the door. We had to go from the wall over the benches and go to the door.

For Writing we had to write a persuasive speech. I wrote about how plastic bags should be banned. I think that plastic bags should be banned is because they harm animals. Opinion means a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. A facts means something that is true.

LI: To learn about what happened in Ihumātao. 
This week we were working on the same slide from last week for Ihumātao about what is happening there. We had to do four slide for our reading task. For this reading task we had to use the five W and the H and they were Who,When,why,What,Where,and the H How.The names of the slide were What do you Know,Mataurange Maori,Relationship with lands.

Swimming

LI.To learn water safety skills 

For Swimming we were learning how to float on our back with a swimming board in front of our chin to hold us up. We next started kicking with our legs and arms to the other end with a straight body on top of the water. 


Equivalent Fractions WIP

LI.To earn and look after money by using maths
For maths we made a Equivalent Fractions quiz.Equivalent means equal in value, amount, function, meaning, etc. One of the questions were what is equivalent to 5 / 10 ( Five Tenths ). 
The questions are easy then get more and more harder.
