Angles

I learnt about angles, coding and measurement.  A angle is the amount of degrees that someone or an object that is turning anticlockwise or clockwise.

To practise coding and meauserment we played a game called go home.

Tools for the game:
A protracor
Pencil
Ruler
10 sided die
Chrome book to write the measurements down.

Once I rolled the die I first I start from house 7 then I had to go to house 9. Then I get my ruler and measured the distance, the measurment was 22mm, the code was go fwd 22mm.

Next I got my protractor and measure the distance turned, I needed to turned anti clock wise 75 degrees, the code was turn acw 75*.

Then I measured the distance again, the measurment is 72mm, the code is go fwd 72mm

After that I measure the amount of distance turned again, I turned anti clock wise 90 degrees, the code is turn acw 90*.

Lastly I measure the distance, the measurment is 144mm, the code was go fwd 144mm then you are at you are at house nine

During this lesson I made a few mistakes.

Tenses

Tenses are a form of verb that tell three things about an action either from the past, the present or the future. There are 12 types of tenses.

Time tenses. The means something that happened before the time of speaking. The present means something that is happening in the time of speaking. The future means something that you think is going to happen in the future.

Continuance tenses.

Continuous simple means Something that happens in the one point of time. Continuous means an event or celebration that started but hasn't finished.

Completion tenses.
Completion tenses means an action is completed. An action be acted in the past but not completed in the future.

Questioning | Reading

I learnt a reading strategy called questioning. We used this strategy in a book called Thirst. There were four questions that had to be moved in four catogries of what question we thought belonged in that catagory.

I moved the question, what is the water companys name into the right there slide becuase the answer can be found in the text on page two.

I moved the question what does the water tank code do into the think and search slide becuase it also shows answer in the text but is written in a different way.

I moved the question why doesn't Ryders family have much water as the Carter family. My answer was that they can't afford water taxes to pay Aqua Plex.

I moved the question what do you think happened to Ryder into the on my own slide. My answer was that Ryder would know that his sister would give away evidence that Ryder stole water from the Carter family's water tank so he ran away.

Basic Facts Boxes

For basic facts boxes I did up to 9 on multiplaction. I got all questions right and never got stuck on a question. I think this is my best time for multiplcation. My time was 4 min and 54 seconds.

Maori | Number Chart

For our Maori session I had to made a number chart to practise numbers between eleven and ninety nine.

One of the numbers I practised was 34. In Maori 30 is toru te kau. 30 and 4 is toru te kau ma wha.

After we were given a list for numbers we had to translate from English to Maori, e.g. 64 would be ono te kau ma wha.

Volleyball

A set is a stratagee that you use in volleyball.

Do to a set the first step is to put your foot in front in front of your other like this:

Then tilt you knees so when you push up it has alot of force.

Then the next postion is to make your finger point the oppiste direction you are facing so when the ball comes it can be pushed over the net.

Then is the last position. When the ball is coming straighten your arms from bent to stright and push so it has alsot of force to go over the net.

Subtraction Using Place Value | Maths

Subtraction place value is a skill to make subtracting easier to find an answer to a equation.

To solve 123 - 46 first I explained the number that I was taking away from the total I had. Then I subtracted six from the one hundred and twenty three. After I had a total of one hundred and seventeen. I then subtracted the 40 from the one hundred and seventeen. After I had a total of 77.

Aboriginal Art | Art

Aboringal art comes from Austraila. Abroiginal art was used to tell stories like how the Kangaroo got it pouch. They were called dream time stoires. They used symbols explain how the stories worked, e.g. sun (farthers destiny) is a hand.

First we painted symbols onto a peice of paper to recoinse what they represent. There were two techinces to do the symbols dots or strokes. We had to keep the dots close as possible to make it look good.

Second we got to choose a animal to explain or make a story about. The options was a kangaroo, joey, wombat, lizzard and a penguin. I choose a Joey (baby kangaroo) and a kangaroo. We had to trace a outline of  a animal for our base of the aborginal art. Then we used dots for the inside of the animal. After we used lines and dots to create the symbols to explain the story.

My story is about a Joey and a Kangaroo traveling along but it starts to rain when a man tries to hunt the joey and a kangaroo. Later the rainbow comes up and the joey and kangroo get out of site from the man.

Inquiry | Light & Sound

In our inquiry session we were learning the volcabulary about light and sound.

We had to find the defenition that we thought matches the word, e.g. Prism is when a transparent shape that can be split into white light to make a spectrum of colours.

The second activity was find, act, draw and animate. We had to chose four diffrent words that were related from the vocabulary activity to explain how it works using an animation, a video, a picture and a drawing.

One word I choose was laser. I drew a picture to show what a laser is.

Verbs | Writing

Verbs are action words. There are three types verbs called phyiscal verbs, mental verbs and state of being verbs.

Physical verbs are action words that are to do with movement, e.g. pull. Verbs use the orignial word by its self and also uses no cpaitals becuase they are not propper nouns.

Mental verbs are thinking words that are related with thinking, e.g. dream. This is a thinking word becuase you are thinking of something when you are dreaming.

There is only one verb to show state of being, but it has many different forms. The verb is be, but some of its other forms are: is, are, were, will be etc.

Verbs specify what a person is doing or thinking.

Making Predictions | Reading

Predicting is a educated guess about what will happen next or in the future.
We had to make predictions on the questions about the book called Happy New Year. We had to answer the questions by predicting what will happen later in that story.

One prediction I made was I think that the family uses fireworks and catches fire to the great barrier reef. It was wrong becauase there are fire bans at the great barrier reef.

The second prediction was the party is going to turn into a disaster. My prediction was correct because one of the locals shot a flare gun and the flare caught fire to the trees.

Predicting can help you find clues about the story for information.

Properties of Light | Inquiry

Light is a element that makes objects visible. Light has many propertys.

One property of light is that it can not travel through opaque objects. This was proven by putting an opaque object in front of the torch. The results were that a torch can not travel through opaque objects.

A second property is that white light can be spilt into many colours. This was proven by light traveling through a prisim that spilt the white light into many colours.

A third property is that light travels in a straight line. This was proven by putting a peice of card with a small rectangle hole and measuring the directions of the light. The results was light can travel in straight lines.

Reading Large Numbers | Maths

Large numbers can be hard to read depending on what number is being read.

To read a large number like 547,829,316 you start with the millions place value. To read the millions you group the number in a group of three and say it as "five hundred and forty seven million".

Then you group the thousands into a group of three and say the number as "eight hundred and twenty nine thousand."

After you group the ones. Group the ones into a group of three and say three hundred and sixteen.

Group all of the numbers togther and say it as five hundred and forty seven million, eight hundred and twenty nine thousand, three hundred and sixteen.

Make sure you say the place value house with more importance so people know what the number is worth.

Plurals | Writing

Plurals are nouns that show there is more than one thing.

Most plurals have the letter s at the end of the word to make it a plural, e.g. lions. There is a letter s in front because there is more than one lion.

If the object ends with a y it changes the y to a i, e.g. bunny changes to bunnies because there is more than one bunny.
