Explain that Idiom | Reading

For reading we were describing idioms. A idiom is a expression that means something diffrent to what it usally means.

The three idioms we picked was: cutting corners means not performing a duty/task correctly in order to save time, feeling under the weather means not feeling well or feeling sick and cost an arm and a leg means something that is overpriced or something expensive.

After chosing three idioms we wrote a scrpit and video for the idioms.

Maths

For maths we had to use maths stragies to solve equations like 82 - 44. The stratiges my group used were written algorithm, numberline, addition, subtraction, multiplcation and divison and counting backwards.

One way my group solved the question 82 - 44 was splitting up the numbers. First I explained the number I took away. 44 = 40 + 4. Then I took 4 away to make 78. after I minused 40 from the 78 to make 38. So 82 - 44 = 38.

Punctuation | Writing

The overall task was to identfiy and use punctuation in sentences.

The first task was idenfiying punctuation. I moved the correct symbols and sentences that match the punctuation.

The second task was trying to use all of the punctutaion in as few sentences as we could. I had five sentences using all of the punctuation.

I found this task very intresting becuase now I know how to use all punctuation when im writing.

LI. To identfiy the correct use of different punctuation.

Swimming | Kiwisport

I went swimming at the Pamure pools to learn about water saftey. Our coach was called Kelly. I learnt streamline, floating & pool entry

The first skill I practised was entering the pool safely. To enter the pool safely I had to turn my body around and push my body into the pool.

The second skill I practised was streamline. To practise streamline I put my arms behind my ears then push my body into the water.

The third skill I learnt was floating on our front and rolling on our back with the board. I had to glide and roll my back into floating position and back onto our front.

I enjoyed learning swimming skills to get me safe around deep water.

Then I folded the square into various shapes and cut them out.

Lastly,  I tried to make diffrent animal shapes from the tangram peices.

Procedural Writing

For Writing I learnt how to write a procedure. Procedures are the series of actions to make something or finish a task.

Frist I wrote the most important verb to start each step.
Example: Spread butter over the two slices of bread

Then I created a list of materials to make the sandwich.

After I finshed writing the steps  to make the sandwich.

Finally I found matching pictures for each step.

I enjoyed doing this task becuase I can now write procedures in my own time.

Adverbs

Adverbs are used to describe verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. Most adverbs end ly, e.g. quickly, sadly, happily and many more. Adverbs often help answer the questions when, where and how and to what extent.

Adverbs that often tell how an action happens are, e.g. The girl was quickly running.

Adverbs that often tell when something happens are, Tommorow or now.
For example: Tommorow Jake will be snekaing out of the house to go to a concert.

Some adverbs that tell where something happened are outside or inside.
For example: The kids were playing inside.

The words barely, almost, very and extremely can describe verbs like almost finished and can modify adjectives like extremely angry, e.g. Leon was almost finished his koru art.

Adverbs help make a more detailed sentence or question.
