Commenting | SLJ 2020

This week for the Summer Learning Journey I commented on Rj's blogpost.

RJ's blogpost was about what he would by for each family member for christmas with a $100 budget.

I asked Rj what he would do with the left over $25 dollars he had and why would he spend the $25 dollars.

Kowhaiwhai Pattern | SLJ 2020

This week for the Summer Learning Journey I made a Koru pattern.

For my Koru pattern I repeatedly made a love heart. I made back backround green so it suits the black koru.

So far this has been my favrouite activty becuase I can customise the background and also make my own pattern designs.

Fishing False Teeth | SLJ 2020

This week for the summer learning Journey we did a activty called Fishing False Teeth.

We watched video and read an article of two friends fishing on a boat and speaking to each other. I made a comic strip of the two friends making a bet on who can catch a fish first.

I enjoyed making a comic strip becuase I could make my own story and write in the comic strip what they were saying.

Material Hunt | SLJ

In the first part of the SLJ we were introduced to nano girl, also known as Michelle Dickson. She is a educator who teaches kids in New Zealand about science.

For our first task with nano girl, we had to go for a scavenger hunt to find some materials that we would be using with for the next 6 weeks.

We used screencastify to showcase we found during the treasure hunt.

Sales Pitch Presentation | Inquiry

This week for inquiry my group and I presented our emergency shelter speech.

First we started to prepare ourselves and ready to present our speech and while we were getting ready we pratised our lines and fixed the mistakes.

Then we presented our speech and presentation slide and watched other people do their own. We explained reasons why we chose our own emergency shelter shape and why the materials that were included were good for the natural disaster that we also chose. While me and my group were presenting we held our models.

Last we had a discussion about who was going to be hired and some groups that was going to be fired.

I think that my gorup work on is to work on eye contact and being more confident when saying there lines. My gorup didn't reach the criteria becuase we didn't include our materials test sheet.

Te Ika a Maui | Māori

This week for Māori we were matching the meaning of Maori places in the North Island.

We couldn't use google translate but we got clues by reading some parts of the places names and matching of the meanings words with the clues.

For example: Te Aroha = The love

The reason why it matches is becuase aroha and love are the same thing.

I found this activity challenging is because we couldn't use Maori Dictonary and I can't speak fluent Maori.

Commanding Conversation | Writing

Commanding conversation is a can-do where people practice writing conversations. We used comanding conversation to get better at using descriptive speech and using punctuation when writing.

I wrote one conversation which is about three kids playing the grass.

Commanding conversation is a good way for me to practice writing dialogues.

Touch Mayhem | Kiwisport

This week we had our last sesssion for touch rugby.

We started our session off with a passing drill. A passing drill is when one person has the ball and passes it to the next person on the left.

Next we played a game of touch. While playing touch we used some skills and tips that we learnt from the past touch sessions like 3 and 2 man settle and driving up the feild in a straight line and then passing it out to the wingers.

I enjoyed playing touch and learning basic skills to use when playing with my friends. I need to work on passing the ball fast to my team when playing dummy half.
