Hazards & Risks | Inquiry

LI. To demonstrate prior knoledge about risks and hazards

For inquiry we were learning about hazards and risks.

First we played octopus and four corners. Once we played the two games we identified the dangers and accidents that could of happened. 

Next we identified the difference between risks and hazards. Hazards mean something that can harm people. Risks are the chances that people take that could harm people or other things. 

Then we thought of hazards that could happen in homes,the community,in sports and at school. 

Lastly we wrote down risks that could happen in those places. 

Visualising

Visualising is a strategy that helps picture a thought in your head. 

The Gruffalo story uses the visualising strategy. The little mouse describe a monster called the gruffalo. At the end of the story people should have a picture in there head on what the gruffalo looks like.

Basic Facts Boxes

For basic facts boxes I did speed demon on times tables and division. My goal is to get quicker at answering the equations. My time was 7 minutes and 51 seconds. 

SSR Selfie | Tashi and the phoenix

For ssr selfie I read a book about tashi and the phoenix. Tashi and the phoenix is about an adventure where Tashi outwits the Warlord, with the help of a dazzling Phoenix, in order to get his Uncle Tiki Pu out of terrible trouble.

Cook Island Week | Pronouncing Numbers

I was given a bunch of tasks to complete for Cook Island language week.

One of the tasks I completed was pronouncing numbers from one to 10 in Cook Island language.

First I practised saying the numbers to make the video.

Then I wrote the numbers in Cook Island language. 

Afterwards I made a video showing how to pronounce the numbers in Cook Island language.

Similarities and differences talk about what things are different and same. 

The book Dippy dinner drippers is about the dippy family who are messy eaters. The book Space Food is about students that try to prevent food from going rotten in space. 

The similarities of the Dippy dinner drippers and Space food is they are both fiction.

The diffrences of the Dippy dinner drippers and Space food is Space food gives real facts and Dippy dinner drippers doesn't. 

Similarities and differences can help people find the diffrence and and the similaritie beetween two objects. 

LI: To understand texts using reciprocal reading. 

Similies | Writing

Similes are a comparison of two things using “like” or “as … as”. 

When similes have adjectives people use the word "as". For example: 'The man is as smart as Steven Hawking'.

When similes have verbs people use the word "like".  For example: 'He acts like a idiot'.

Similes help compare two things using "like" or  "as...as"
