Places to go in Australia/SLJ

For the Summer Learning Journey I had to make a poster on a travelling poster of my choice. The country I chose was Australia. In Sydney there are 2 most famous places the Sydney bridge & the opera house they are not far from each other.

Venus Williams

For Summer Learning Journey I made a poster on Venus Williams. Venus Williams and her sister Serena Williams are both tennis players. There dad Richard Williams thought them tennis when they were kids.

When my Granddad was bungee jumping off the harbour bridge a kid fell off the deck where he had jumped off and the little kid fallen off so my granddad jumped down and cached the kid. My granddad got a trophy but he didn't take the trophy.  

For the summer learning Journey we had to write about a recount about a time when you or someone did something brave. I wrote about a time where Granddad jumped off the harbour bridge when he was 34 to save a little kid. He did ave the kid and my granddad got a trophy but he didn't accept the trophy.

For the summer learning Journey we had to complete a task on supporting a company that Sir Edmond Hillary use charity . The option were SPCA,OXFAM,Auckland City Mission & Air Rescue.
We then had to make a poster about the company and what they do.

My Dream Job

For the summer learning Journey we had to make a poster or an info graphic about our dream job.I made a poster on my dream job. My dream job is to be a Landscaper. The reason why this is my favourite job is because I learnt how to use a lawn mower when I was three. 

Jean Batten & Amelia Earhart/ Solo Flyers

For the summer learning journey I had to make a diagram on Jean Batten & Amelia Earhart. I had to find facts about both the solo flyers and then put the similar information about them in the middle box.

Interview on Micheal Jordan

For the Summer Learning Journey I asked 5 questions about a basket ball player. The basketball player I chose was Micheal Jordan. Micheal Jordan plays golf in tournaments and retired basketball in 2003. He use to play for the Chicago Bulls and was known for the most skilled basketball player in Chicago Bulls.

If I had three Superpowers

For the Summer Learning Journey the task I completed was If I had 3 superpowers. The three superpowers I would have is infinite wishes, Super Speed and invisibility. I would like these powers because I can stop super villains.

Day 1/Activity 2 SLJ

For the Summer learning journey we had to find places around the world that is special to your family or where they were born. For an Example: My tribe is from Ngapuhi and my famous ancestor is Hone Heke.

Week 1/ Day One/ Activity One/ SLJ

10 things I would take on a boat with no refrigerator or freezer if
I was invited on a boat for 3 weeks but I had to bring 10 selections of foods and drinks to survive. 

Here are the items I would take with me to survive.

1. Nuts 
2. Fresh water bottles (42 liters) 
3. Brown rice 
4. Fruit Salad cans
5. Protein Bars 
6. Muesli Bars 
7. Beef Jurkey
8. Raisins/Sultanas/Apricots   
9. Apples 
10. Weet Bix  

Why I would take these things on a boat

There Healthy they don’t have to go in the fridge and they don’t have to be cooked apart
from the brown rice and the beef jurkey.
The beef jurkey and and brown rice is easy to cook. T
he water you need to survive and if you drink out of the sea you get sick.

For basic facts boxes I done speed demon for multiplication and division.I got no answers wrong and my time was 6 minutes and 59 seconds. My last record was 7.44 seconds I have slowly improved on speed demon. 

SSR Selifie

For SSR I read a Book about Rugby 2011.Rugby is a game that is to do with physical contact most fit and solid people play Rugby. There are 3 types of rugby union,League and Rugby. Every year rugby is played in the world cup. The most teams who have won 3 world cup are Sprig Box and the All Blacks.Australia is the 3 closest team to win there 3rd world cup.

For Writing we had to write the hook for our narrative. A Hook is a opening statement to start a narrative. We also had to introduce the 2 main charters the other character helps them later on in the story.

This week for cyber smart we had to pick one things out of slide,Move,song and other. We had to work in partners in my partner was Mote. We had to write how to find a legal Image.
This will help you with finding legal images and not having to pay on other sites.

Kiwi Sport

LI.To play singles
For Tennis we were play singles. We all had to have a turn vs the champions and if you beat the challengers once you are now the challenger if you feed it in or hit the ball twice in your square you are out.After all the champions were challenging the other champions the last one who stands wins.

10 Words & 5 Meanings | Reading

For Reading we the task I was doing was 10 Words & 5 meanings. It had to find 10 words and the book Fantastic Mr Fox and find out 5 meanings out of the 10 words. The 10 words I chose was Plucked,Souvenir,Cunning,Murmured,Murky,Wadding,Cursed,Shallow and courage.

LI.To Respect others differences 
For Kiwi Can we were learning about others differences. 

Example: if someone eats meat and the other person is a vegan you have to respect that differences and not say "im not playing with you because your vegan" That is disrespecting that difference that you don't have.

It is good to respect people's differences because everyone has differences.Another example of respecting someone is by helping them if they can't do something like if someone has dislocated there knee they might want help. 

Maori

This week for Maori we were learning the days of the week and months in Maori. First we learn the days of the week in Maori like Wenerei,Hàtarei and Paraire. Then we completed the other questions on a google doc.After we answered some questions about when is our birthday and we had to write down down the google doc in Maori.

LI.To learn the time in Maori
For Maori we were learning the time in Maori.First we learnt the basic times in Maori and then we went and completed the harder times in Maori. We then went on to clock face generator to show the time we had translated from Maori to English.

Maths

This week for maths we were doing fractions.We did fractions because most people in maths tests were bad for fractions so we were memorizing the basic fractions. The easiest fraction to remember is one half. Fractions are an equal piece divided into an amount of equal pieces cut. We had ti use paper and make fractions in different shapes and paste it in your maths book to remember the basic fractions.

LI.Novel Study
For reading The task I finished was describing Mr fox .The 4 questions I answered to describe Mr Fox was What he's good at,What he looks like,What he hates about the three farmers and what is his favourite food. Mr fox is good at smelling his favrouite food is plucked chickens and other meat. 

Just Fame It | Inquiry

This week are selling our finished photo frames for our Gala day.Our company is called Just frame it we had to make logos and names for our company.The design I had made was Christmas. Most students in our class done events in the year because most people celebrate those events.

Kiwi Sport | Doubles Tennis

LI.To play Doubles
For tennis we were doing doubles. Doubles are two teams against two other opponents in tennis. We had to use all our tennis knowledge against the other opponents. The challenges had to beat the champions twice to become a champion and then the champion goes in the line if you beat them. Every duo partner should have a turn hitting the ball who ever is the closer hits the ball. If you hit the ball out or the ball bounces twice in your square you are out and it's the next persons turn. The two duos that win challenge each other for the victory. 

Maths | Flight Measurements

LI. to use statistical and scientific methods to study the effect of wingspan and area 

on lift. For Maths we were studding about aerodynamics.We learnt what variables are as well as independent and dependent variables. We had to fly the plane 10 times and see how far the plane goes and if you find a pattern. This was also to see what the effect and launch was like for each throw.

Athletics Day 2019

For athletics day the activity's we were doing was Egg & Spoon,Lilly Pad gladiator, Shot put,Rob the nest,Sprints,Surf Lifesaver,Sponge Relay and Rest/dance station.I was in team red all teams had to get the most points and a big thanks to Mr Ogilvie for setting up Athletics Day.

LI.To respect others for their differences 
For Kiwi we were learning about respecting other differences and what are different to people and what will happen if we were the same. Everyone has there own beliefs,ideas and customs. Be careful what actions you do in other country's because if some is good a good action like thumbs up might be a bad action in other country's.  It's always good to learn other cultures, religions and customs.

Activity: Spot the difference 
For this Activity we had to get into pairs.Then we had one person had to face the other way and then the other person had to make a change and when the person had finished the person who turned around had to try find out what was the difference then we on swapping roles.

Coffee Shop | Inquiry

This week we were playing a game called coffee shop. We played the game because it linked with our inquiry for the term. In this game you can make your coffee strong or weak, black or creamy, bitter or sweet. your can also adjust the money from 5 cent to $10 dollars.

LI.To translate words and phrases into English.
For Maori we had to translate words and phrases into English. The words were to do with safety and phrases of safety like be calm Kia tau. After we had to write the English words into the box.

Kiwi Sport

LI.To learn a full serve.

For Kiwi sport we were learning how to do a full serve. A full serve is when you throw the ball up in the air and bend your elbow  and hit the ball with the racket on to the other opponents side.  Then we played doubles. We had to use skills that we learnt in other sessions like back hand and forehand.

LI.To be patient 
For Kiwi Can we were learning about how to be patient. Being patient is waiting and not throwing a tantrum because something is taking so long.To learn how to be patient we were playing some games on being patient. The first game was called snap and escape. To play this game you need to have one hand out and two fingers on your other partners hand and then the teacher has to say a word that is the one where the person escapes and catches. There were also 2 other games.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2019

For Manaiakalani Film Festival I watched Room 13 chasing dreams from Pt England school. It was very interesting because there was different characters and it was very Interesting and entertaining.

For SSR Selfie I as reading a book planets. 
This book is called Exploring the moon. This book tells you about how much moons there are and information about the moon.There are 205 Moons in the solar system it also includes the dwarf planets.

LI.To use scientific methods to study the effect of wingspan and area on lift  
For maths we had to make planes with different wingspans and a to see the difference of how far the plane goes. When we were testing our planes we found out that the bigger the wingspan the further the plane flies. We made 2 errors on 2 of the plane tests. 

Story Setting | Writing

LI.To identify parts of a narrative  
For writing we had to choose a story setting for a narrative. We had to right the story and not describe the story. Then we had to right the story again but not telling the story and describing the island.

For commenting I commented on aceins blog post.He wrote about 3 little pigs. He has made a few mistakes and the ending of the story was and the 3 pigs ate the wolf for dinner. He has made a interesting blog post

For basic facts boxes I finished speed demon on multiplication and half way through addition and subtraction. My time was 8 minutes and 56 seconds. I had got 5 questions wrong because I had rushed the questions to get a faster time.

For SSR Selfie I read a book about Pounamu Treasures. Did you know that there are over 21 types of Pounamu designs. Pounamu is green stone in Maori Pounamu is a jewellery for Maori people.

LI.To play a business game

For inquiry we were playing a game called I supply you demand. We had to chose a company out of a hat. When the game starts everyone's balance was $ 50. Our product we were selling was cookies. We sold cookies for $5 and $ 10 . We also have to buy more products to sell. When the game was finished my group had $ 56 so I only made $ 6. 

Maths

LI: to use statistical and scientific methods to study the effect of wingspan and area 

on lift. For term 4 we are studying aerodynamics. We learnt what variables are as well as 

independent and dependent variables. Our task this week was to create 12 paper/origami planes focusing on one certain design and studying each aspect of the design and which part of the paper planes are important 

and how they affect launch and flight.A variable is a feature of an object or thing that can change between multiple types of the object/item. An independent variable is unchanged by other variables or will not be 

changed by other aspects or assets of a variable.

Figurative Language

LI. To investigate Figurative language 
For wring we had to chose famous cartoon characters or interesting people and describe them using Literal,Simile,Metaphor,Hyperbole and a personification.  The 3 people I chose to describe were Skips from regular show, Fat Albert and Meliodas from 7 deadly sins/ Anime. I described Skips as big, Fat Albert as fat and Meliodas as Strong.

LI.To learn how to do rally's

For Kiwi sport we were learning how to do small rally's and doing small backhands. 

To do a rally you have to put the Tennis ball on the net gently and let it fall on the persons side then he had to hit the ball over the net and over and over again intill someone loses. If you hit the net or other there head you lose.

LI.To learn about communication

For this kiwi Can lesson we were talking about how or why it's good to have a good To respect people. Respect goes with Communication is talking to each other in languages like sign language or on social media. Our activity was Rock,Paper,Scissors with a twist. When we beat other people we had to go down on our knees and vs other people on there knees and if you lose on your knees your out.

LI.Attached to comprehension tasks 
For reading I made a post on Fantastic Mr Fox. The task was to make a news report on the Roald Dahl Book we are reading for the past few weeks. I decided to make a poster on Fantastic Mr Fox wanted for $ 1,900.  
In the story Mr Fox he was stealing chickens from Boggis and Beans farm So Bean hired diggers to hunt Mr fox and his family.

This week for Maori We had to get into a new group and we had to to watch the video that explain why Maori People ask where you are from they say it because there is an  understanding that is shared by Maori that everyone is linked and can be related to one another. By asking where you are from, you are looking to make connections to that person..

LI.To understand the difference between legal and illegal images.
For cybersmart we had to find a legal image for a poster and then explain about why it is legal.
We then also had to explain how we got the image a safe and faster way. First I clicked on insert and then clicked on image from the web and then searched up a appropriate image that is legal and your allowed to use.

For maths we are going to be making origami paper planes for maths to learn the different parts of the paper plane. My measurements were:

LI. To Investigate Figurative Language.
For writing we had to find out all 8 Figurative languages mean. The 7 figurative languages are Simile,Hyperbole,Understatement, Figurative & Literal,Metaphor,Important and Personification.
Simile & Important are similar but Important doesn't use Like or as and Simile uses like or as.

Roald Dahl | Research

LI.Novel Study 
For the next few weeks we are doing activities on Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl is a British Novelist that used to make books and movies. Roald Dahl unfortunately died on the 23rd of November 1990 in Oxford,United Kingdom. He died from a rare blood disease.  Roald Dahl had one of the most fun career's you could have. Roald Dahl made millions of dollars from kids and adult's movies and books.

LI.To learn the basic grip on a Tennis racket. 

For our new Kiwi-sport we were playing Tennis our coach was Peter. 

In Pairs, One person dropped a ball the other tried to catch it. This warmed up our reactions. 

Learning the forehead and backhand technique.  

Ford Head - One hand at the bottom of the racket this is our dominate hand.

Backhand - Two hands of the racket.The Dominate hand stays on the bottom the other hand hold above the bottom hand.

Cyber-Smart | Smart & LEGAL

LI.To understand legal use of images
For Cybersmart we were doing smart searching. On websites some pictures might not be free to use but only to look at. If you go on a web site like Flickr: 

For an EXAMPLE: 
You might have a look at a picture to use for your work and your paste it on to your work that is not being SMART. First you should always have a look at the license of the photo. Another way you could know it's not free is by seeing that it is All rights Reversed that means you or anyone else are not allowed to use the photo.
